Large photos make a page slow because the browser has to download every pixel before the page feels finished. This free tool resizes one JPEG, PNG or WebP to at most 1600 pixels wide and returns a WebP. One image at a time. No account. The file is not stored and is not sent to another company.

What is WebP?

WebP is a picture format current browsers already understand. The same photo is often a smaller file than the JPEG or PNG you started with. This tool does not promise a particular percentage.

Does this reduce visual quality?

Yes, a little. Fine detail can soften. The picture should still look right on a normal website. It is not a print file. A transparent PNG or WebP keeps its transparency. Animation is not kept: a file that is accepted is processed as one frame.

What width is useful?

1600 pixels is enough for most page photos on a phone and a laptop. A hero image rarely needs a 4000-pixel camera original. About eight images a minute. A smaller file is not by itself a reason to hire anyone. SVG is not accepted. The tool does not write alt text.
